1997 jdm gen III 3s-gte engine swap
A little about my car. I purchased this 1992 usdm MR2 from Bruce Baldwin on 04Aug04 for $7k. the front bumper was brand new and hadn't been painted. it was decently modified when i bought it with:
ported and polished head
trd .95mm metal head gasket
total seal Xtreme top rings
denso irridium plugs and wires

Before the swap, I ran an 8.8 @ 81mph in 1/8th at cooper river valley in charlston, SC.
in April of 05' i decided to do the gen III swap. I imported a gen III engine from japan for $2300. Larry Burge of Burge automotive did the swap for a very good price of $850!!! unfortunately, when the engine arrived, the wiring harness was no good. we had to use the gen II wiring harness and ecu. which also means, i had to keep the AFM and all the gen II sensors. at the time of the swap, it netted a 8.06 @ 89mph in the 1/8th mile at cooper river valley in Charlston, SC. Since then, Bryan (NoShoes) Moore of No Shoes Speedworks has repinned my body harness and adapted my existing mess to work the right way with the gen III. No more AFM!!!! she purrs better now than the day I bought it!
